St. Nicholas Day celebration on December 18, 18:00–21:30 at Odell Lodge (397 Rookwood Ave, Fredericton). Festivities included a theatrical show, St. Nicholas with gifts, carols (kolyadky), children's games, a photo zone, and a potluck dinner.
Ukrainians shared the beautiful Christmas tradition of Kolyada with all Frederictonians. A group went house to house singing traditional Ukrainian carols (Kolyadky). Instead of treats, participants collected support for Ukraine.
Father Sergiy available for traditional Jordanian home visits (Yordanski Vidvidyny) on January 28, 2023. Meeting and service at St. Anthony's Catholic Parish Rectory (601 Union St, Fredericton) from 12:00–15:00, followed by home visits from 15:30–19:00.
Pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg) painting master class at MCAF, Room 145, on Saturday March 18, 2023, 11:00–14:00. Free for community members. Volunteer masters taught the traditional wax-resist technique. All materials including eggs provided. Children 12+ only due to open candles and hot wax.
Ukrainian Easter (Velykden — The Great Day) service and Easter basket blessing at Christ Church Cathedral, 150 Church St, Fredericton. First-ever opportunity for the Fredericton Ukrainian community to celebrate with priest Father Sergiy.
A celebration of Ukrainian Svyat-Vechir (Holy Evening) — the last day of the Apostles' Fast before Ukrainian Orthodox Christmas. Features 12 traditional Lenten dishes symbolizing the 12 apostles, with Kutia as the central dish.
Canadian friends who appreciate Ukrainian culture donated 4 tickets to the Krut (Круть) concert for community members who cannot afford them. Concert held Thursday, February 15. Children under 12 free.
